3 Reasons Your Hair Is Shedding—And Why the Solution Starts From Within

The shedding you see on your brush or in the shower may have less to do with your haircare routine—and more to do with what’s happening inside your body.

Here’s what may be happening beneath the surface—and how to support stronger, fuller-looking hair at the source.

01 / 03THE HAIR-CYCLE SHIFT

Major Changes in Your Body Can Disrupt Your Hair Cycle

Whether it’s postpartum recovery or rapid weight loss, your body is adapting to a major physiological shift. That stress can interrupt the normal hair-growth cycle, pushing more follicles out of active growth and into the resting phase—where increased shedding can follow.¹⁻²

Carrara combines Type I marine collagen peptides that supply amino acids for healthy hair with Type II from prized salmon nasal cartilage and organic coconut milk to enhance absorption, supporting stronger, fuller-looking hair from within.
02 / 03THE PROTEIN CONNECTION

Your Hair Is Made of Protein. Your Haircare Can’t Supply It.

Hair is primarily made of keratin, a structural protein built from amino acids your body gets through nutrition. Shampoos, serums and scalp oils can condition hair from the outside, but they can’t provide those nutritional building blocks from within.

Carrara pairs highly bioavailable Type I + rare Type II marine collagen with precision-dose biotin, an essential nutrient that supports keratin production, for more complete inside-out hair support.
03 / 03THE DELAYED EFFECT

Your Hair Is Months Behind Your Body

The hair loss you notice today can trace back to what your body experienced months ago. Because hair cycles through growth, rest and shedding, changes your body is adapting to may not show up in your hair right away.²

Hair changes take time—and so does rebuilding from within. In a 90-day consumer perception study of Carrara, 74% of participants reported fuller or thicker-looking hair after consistent daily use.³

We have answers!

0g sugar, 1.5g carbs and 8.5g of marine collagen protein. No sweeteners.

Carrara contains two clinically studied forms of marine collagen: 8.5g of Type I (from wild-caught Japanese fish skin and scales) and 25mg of rare undenatured Type II (from the nasal cartilage of wild Hokkaido salmon). It’s the first formula to combine both in a single product.

We formulated for precision, not quantity. Type I supports visible skin radiance and systemic vitality. Type II reinforces the dermal architecture and connective tissue that underpin both skin firmness and joint mobility. More types doesn’t mean better results. Clinical precision does.

The Type II collagen in Carrara comes from the nasal cartilage of wild Hokkaido salmon—one of the rarest sources of undenatured Type II collagen available. Unlike conventional hydrolyzed collagens, this intact form retains its natural complex with proteoglycans, preserving biological active sites that interact with connective tissue and immune pathways in a fundamentally different way. Clinical studies on this specific source showed improvements in skin elasticity, firmness, wrinkles and pores in as little as 2 weeks, as well as greater joint comfort within 4–6 weeks.

From the pristine waters of Hokkaido, Japan—where cold currents from the North Pacific and Sea of Okhotsk keep the water clean and nutrient-rich. We work with marine collagen artisans who pioneered the category itself, and have spent decades refining collagen sourcing and extraction technology.

Carrara is made from wild-caught Japanese fish, using parts—skin, scales and nasal cartilage—that are traditionally prized in Japanese and Cantonese nourishment rituals. This reflects a whole-fish utilization philosophy with deep cultural respect for the source.

Not as a whole product. The marine collagen is wild-caught (not farmed), so it doesn’t carry an organic designation. However, Carrara does contain organic coconut milk powder and organic Madagascar vanilla.

Marine Type I Collagen (Wild Fish), Organic Coconut Milk Powder, Pearl Powder, Organic Madagascar Vanilla, Marine Type II Collagen (Wild Salmon Nasal Cartilage), Biotin.

Allergens: Fish, Coconut. Not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

Naturally creamy, soft and smooth—with gentle coconut richness, the quiet warmth of organic Madagascar vanilla and a clean finish from micronized pearl powder. No fishy taste whatsoever. It enhances without overpowering.

One serving is 2 rounded Carrara scoops (13.8g). Add to tea, coffee, a smoothie or any beverage of your choice and mix well. Works in both hot and cold, but warm water gives the best texture. For lattes, the Pique Alchemist Beaker with a frother creates a beautifully silky finish.

Results vary by benefit. Based on clinical studies on Carrara’s specific collagen sources:

  • Skin elasticity and firmness: as early as 2 weeks
  • Skin texture, wrinkles, and tone: emerging at 4 weeks, statistically significant at 8 weeks
  • Joint comfort and mobility: within 4–6 weeks
  • Immune vitality markers: after 8 weeks of consistent daily use

Consistency is everything—Carrara is designed to work as a daily ritual.

Generally yes—collagen is a protein and is considered safe to take from multiple sources. That said, most research suggests an effective range of 2.5–15g daily depending on your goals, so if you’re already near that range, adding more may not provide additional benefit. As always, check with your healthcare provider if you have specific health goals or conditions.

If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take medications, please consult your healthcare practitioner before use.
